Job Title: JuniorUnderwriter (Home Improvements Lending) - Full training provided
Working Pattern: Rotating shift patterns, Monday to Sunday, 08.00 - 20.00, 36.25 hours per week. Hybrid working and flexible shifts available
Salary: up to £25,000 and up to 20% bonus and benefits, increased to £27,500 once training is complete.
Location: Cardiff, Hybrid

The main purpose of the role is support the Underwriting Manager to achieve departmental service levels whilst upholding company standards and complying with all relevant Company and regulatory obligations (including adherence to FCA rules (including FCA CONC rules, delivering fair customer outcomes TCF, FCA, CCA, DPA).
This is a key role in ensuring that the fair treatment of customers is embedded within the Underwriting team whilst ensuring that fair customer outcomes are consistently delivered.

Your Impact: Building a greener tomorrow
As an Underwriter at Tandem your focus will be on:
- Ensuring SLA’s and team KPI metrices are met and when possible, exceeded for our intermediaries and customers
- Excellent understanding of our Credit policies, lending rules and appetite
- Sound Commercial understanding
- Good understanding of the regulatory environment, FCA rulebook and ability to demonstrate the desired outcomes
- Ensuring our Fair and Green outcomes are upheld and championed
- Ownership of individual performance and personal development.
- Represent the department and positively contribute to relevant committee meetings/projects groups.
- Maintain good level of knowledge of the relevant industry sector.
- Accountability for individual performance and contribution to achieve KPI’s set by the business.
- Ownership of individual performance and personal development
- Ensure all information for customers and creditors is correct prior to loan pay-out.
- Processing loan pay-out and handling return of funds
- Handling dealer and broker queries over telephone and email
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in a similar role within a financial services lending environment.
- A working and knowledge and practical experience of underwriting applications for unsecured loans - training can also be provided
- Excellent attention to detail and a desire to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to self-motivate and use own initiative to achieve individual target
- Demonstrable experience of identifying potential fraud
- Strong computer literacy including working experience on Microsoft Office
- Some call centre or telephony support experience
- Good document validation skills
- Demonstrable experience of Underwriting for loans with knowledge of how own performance affects wider Company objectives
