Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ

WACH is looking for a Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ to present the weather forecast for the weekend news and MMJ 3 days a week. Reporting stories will primarily cover weather, climate, and environmental topics. 

The main day to day responsibilities of the role will include…

• Forecasting, producing, and presenting clear and concise weathercasts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
• Produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events
• Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station
• Fill in for Chief Meteorologist on weather when needed. Shoot, edit and create content for news when needed.
• Post content for different social media platforms ( YT, IG, TikTok, etc.)
• Write, shoot, and edit content for on air and online platforms

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

• Ability to tell memorable and meaningful weather stories
• Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots
• In-depth knowledge of forecasting
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
• Experience with The Weather Company Max graphics software preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
