Requirements
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student earning your degree in aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
  • 1+ years relevant internship experience preferred, not required.
  • Interest in typical manufacturing execution systems and quality management systems.
  • To be successful in this role, you need to be able to thrive in ambiguity, identify problems and quickly resolve them, and provide definition to the previously undefined.
  • You will need to balance a scrappy, get-it-done attitude with a vision for the long-term processes required for scaling and efficiency!
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and pressure test planning for our 3D printed domes
  • Designed a Brushless DC Servo-Motor
  • Developed and executed a test plan for flight hardware, such as a quick disconnect mechanism
  • Wrote scripts in python to automate structural test data review and calibration processes
  • Created a python generated report of the stage fluids systems
  • Completed initial designs of the Terran R raceway lines
  • Owned the full-scale separation test for our first nosecone designed to deploy a payload
  • Designed flight hardware to support payload instrumentation
  • Designed development prints and concepts for attaching Terran R secondary structure to the primary structure

Relativity Space focuses on producing and launching 3D printed reusable rockets, catering to the growing demand for space infrastructure. Their main product, the Terran R, is designed to launch various payloads into space, including satellites and future manned missions. The rockets are made using advanced 3D printing techniques, which simplify the manufacturing process, lower costs, and reduce production time. This approach allows Relativity Space to offer a competitive alternative in the aerospace market. Unlike traditional rocket manufacturers, their emphasis on reusability and innovative designs sets them apart. The company's goal is to provide efficient and cost-effective launch services, as demonstrated by their successful launch of Terran 1, the largest 3D printed object, into space.
