Requirements
  • Proven compliance experience in the United Kingdom regulatory environment within at least one of reinsurance, reinsurance broking, employee benefits, or wealth management, or across more than one of insurance, insurance broking, reinsurance, employee benefits, and wealth management.
  • Extensive people-management experience.
  • A proven track record of influencing and building strong, constructive relationships with business leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for analysing and presenting data outputs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
  • A university degree or recognised industry accreditation.
Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Head of Compliance Monitoring, UK Region, and lead and support Compliance Monitoring reviews in accordance with the agreed methodology.
  • Ensure that remedial actions identified during reviews are carried out by the business.
  • Drive the development and delivery of the risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan and Compliance Monitoring methodology in conjunction with the Head of Compliance Monitoring.
  • Drive regular reporting to governance committees and effective team working, prioritisation of work, and application of resources.
  • Ensure collaboration with colleagues within the Compliance function on strategies and projects.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across the Three Lines of Defence in the UK, including the wider LCPA function.
  • Manage all components of Compliance Monitoring reviews, including scope, approach, and review-team members, to deliver reviews to the expected quality within agreed timeframes.
  • Manage resource budgets effectively.
  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders relevant to each review, including the Accountable Executive for the business area being reviewed.
  • Agree remedial actions emerging from each review and track progress through to closure.
  • Propose improvements to the effectiveness of the Compliance Monitoring review process.
  • Carry out quality assurance of completed monitoring reviews to support oversight of team activities.
  • Prepare monitoring reports to specified standards of format, style, and timeliness.
  • Conduct quality reviews of review evidence to ensure it supports the findings.
  • Provide clear and sufficient evidence supporting remedial actions.
  • Report critical findings immediately where appropriate.
  • Achieve buy-in and agreement from the Accountable Executive on report findings and remedial actions.
  • Provide context for findings and recommendations in relation to wider related risk, control, and governance issues.
  • Present confidently to senior leaders and influence senior management so monitoring recommendations are agreed and acted upon.
  • Carry out formal reporting to management on progress against plan, outstanding monitoring issues, and remedial actions.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop a team of Compliance Monitoring professionals.

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations in insurance, reinsurance, insurance broking, employee benefits, or wealth management.
  • Knowledge of client money rules under CASS.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of insurance principles, products, and services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for analysing and presenting data outputs.
  • A university degree or recognised industry accreditation.
