Requirements
  • United States citizenship, nationality, or lawful permanent resident status is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to drive a government vehicle as required for the position.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance and dependability.
  • Must have written and oral communication abilities.
  • Must have time-management skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must commit to and complete the service dates.
  • Must complete the Utah State University self-disclosure of criminal background.
  • Successful candidates must complete the Forest Service background check and fingerprinting process to obtain a PIV/LincPass.
  • Must conform to University and Utah Conservation Corps rules.
Responsibilities
  • Work at the front desk and assist Forest visitors and community members in a professional manner.
  • Educate visitors and the community about the district, including closures, safety issues, recreation, road conditions, trails, and timber permits.
  • Answer telephone calls and check and respond to voicemails and emails.
  • Keep a daily log of visitors and calls.
  • Assist with community service opportunities.
  • Assist in selling timber permits, maps, and other community resources.
  • Maintain the brochure rack with maps, information, and tri-fold brochures.
  • Post public updates on the outdoor kiosk, maintain current information, and remove outdated information.
  • Assist with organizing, cataloging, labeling, and preparing old Forest Service files for archival at the Federal Records Center.
  • Cut out newspaper articles about the Forest Service and place them in a file.
  • Attend mandatory district and forest meetings important to the administrative program area.
  • Perform basic office tasks, including shredding, copying, faxing, emailing, scanning, data entry, contacting the help desk, printing, maintaining physical and electronic file systems, handling documents, preparing mail, applying postage, delivering mail to the post office, checking mail, distributing packages, updating the conference room calendar, organizing supplies, and listing supplies that need replenishment.
