Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Associate Dean for Administration to translate School priorities and leadership decisions into coordinated administrative plans, priorities, and outcomes.
  • Lead integration across Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, Operations, and other University-supported functions.
  • Identify dependencies, barriers, competing priorities, and cross-functional issues requiring School-level coordination.
  • Ensure major administrative initiatives have clear ownership, accountability, milestones, and follow-through.
  • Represent the Associate Dean for Administration in administrative matters and initiatives when delegated.
  • Establish and reinforce clear roles, decision rights, approval pathways, escalation protocols, and accountability across the School's administrative portfolio.
  • Maintain visibility across major administrative commitments, service issues, risks, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Review administrative performance and identify matters requiring intervention, corrective action, or leadership decision.
  • Hold responsible parties accountable for agreed-upon actions, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Provide the Associate Dean for Administration with concise assessments, recommendations, and issues requiring leadership attention.
  • Serve as a senior connector between School priorities and central University administrative functions.
  • Build effective partnerships with University leaders and functional experts to ensure services are integrated around School needs.
  • Address recurring service gaps, unclear ownership, and issues that cross organizational boundaries.
  • Escalate significant institutional issues when they cannot be resolved through established administrative channels.
  • Help ensure centralized services strengthen the School's administrative capacity and faculty and staff experience without unnecessary duplication at the School level.
  • Support the Associate Dean for Administration in developing and adapting the School's administrative operating model as the School and University evolve.
  • Identify and prioritize systemic opportunities for administrative improvement based on performance, risk, organizational growth, and faculty and staff experience.
  • Provide strategic direction and sponsorship for major operational excellence and change initiatives, in partnership with the Continuous Improvement Unit and other key partners.
  • Clarify organizational roles, responsibilities, and handoffs between School-based and centralized functions.
  • Oversee improvement priorities while appropriate operational staff lead detailed process analysis, workflow development, standard operating procedure creation, project management, and implementation.
  • Identify significant administrative risks arising from unclear ownership, fragmented processes, inadequate controls, organizational transitions, or service gaps.
  • Partner with functional leaders to strengthen controls and ensure identified risks have appropriate owners and mitigation plans.
  • Monitor significant unresolved administrative and control issues and ensure appropriate escalation.
  • Preserve institutional knowledge and continuity during organizational or personnel transitions.
  • Anticipate emerging administrative risks and advise the Associate Dean for Administration on appropriate actions.
Desired Qualifications

August 28, 2026 A movie trailer, local TV spot and documentaries produced by WashU Medicine Marketing & Communications recently won five Telly awards, an international contest honoring excellence in TV and video production. The 47th annual competition recognizes creators, brands and production companies from national television networks, movie studios, major brands, sports teams and universities, among others. The organization received nearly 14,000 entries, a 6% increase from last year and the most ever. And the awards go to... * "In Our Lifetime - Part 1: A Piece of Me" follows a family burdened by inherited early-onset Alzheimer's disease and the hope they find in research led by WashU Medicine. The documentary received a silver award in the category Branded Content - Documentary: Short Form (Under 40 minutes). The team included (cinematographer and editor) Huy Mach, WashU Medicine senior video producer; (producer) Macallan Lay, project manager; (director) Josh Kell, assistant vice chancellor and executive creative director; and Jessica Church, director of media relations. * "Changing What's Possible" is a powerful, 30-second look into WashU Medicine's approach to advancing medicine. A painless punch with a microneedle patch could detect kidney disease earlier. Kidney disease is silent in its early stages, progressing without symptoms until the disease is advanced. Researchers in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, in collaboration with researchers at WashU Medicine and at Texas A&M University, have been developing a minimally invasive method to improve diagnosis in earlier stages. New research from the lab of Srikanth Singamaneni, the Lilyan & E. Lisle Hughes Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, shows the early success of a microneedle patch that can be applied on the skin to quickly and safely capture biomarkers and quantify them accurately. The patch detected early signs of kidney injury and may one day support home or point-of-care monitoring without requiring refrigeration. Results of their research were published online Aug. 5 in Advanced Materials. It is the first study to show that encapsulating biomolecules on microneedles preserved their biological functions. The research team, which includes Yixuan Wang, a doctoral student in Singamaneni's lab, created microneedles coated with a metal-organic framework (MOF) that can sample interstitial fluid in the skin. The microneedles are coated with a material that creates a shell that detects and preserves neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) antibodies, which are an early biomarker of acute kidney injury. The MOF shell preserved the antibodies for up to four weeks at 50 C (122 F) without refrigeration. "This metal-organic framework encapsulation is a simple and highly effective way to create microneedle sensors that are resilient to environmental challenges and provide a scalable path to minimally invasive biosensing for at-home or remote health monitoring," Singamaneni said. NGAL increases in the blood within hours of a kidney injury and is a clinically validated biomarker for kidney damage. However, because it requires drawing blood with a needle and cold-chain logistics, it has not been useful in home-based or resource-limited settings. Previously, Singamaneni and collaborators established another type of microneedle patches that can look for biomarkers of disease. Adapting that low-cost, easy-to-use technology required them to create a biosensor with high sensitivity and a broader range, as well as addressing cold-chain logistics. In this study, the anti-amyloid beta (Aβ) protofibril antibody lecanemab was selected as the backbone anti-amyloid therapy.
