Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in animal welfare or a related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated activity in animal welfare through training, teaching, and/or publications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory and accreditation expectations, data analysis, and experimental design.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in animal research oversight requirements.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to multitask and cooperatively support others.
  • This is a security-sensitive position restricted to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct projects and programs aimed at research animal welfare and research excellence, contributing to an overall strategic research infrastructure.
  • Develop and deliver training content on animal welfare and related research concepts, including the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies.
  • Proactively network across system members and the broader research community to build awareness of research animal welfare, and assist members with establishing standard operating procedures and other activities that enhance research animal welfare.
  • Consult with researchers on the 3Rs, human-relevant model systems, and novel alternative methodologies, providing support for investigator grants.
  • Support member accreditation with AAALAC International.
  • Conduct related research, seeking state, federal, and other funding opportunities to advance research animal welfare.
  • Promote the work of Texas A&M University System members in animal research and novel alternative methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification in an animal welfare related field.
  • Prior grant funding for research.
  • Knowledge of advanced human-relevant technologies and/or novel alternative methodologies.
