Our Rochester, NY office has an excellent opportunity for a Financial Planning Intern. Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with an associate advisor and the office staff in the preparation of client documents, the scheduling of client reviews, and the execution of miscellaneous wealth management functions. (This is an active posting for current in person Internship opportunity for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 with opportunity upon graduation for full-time position.)
The salary target for this role is $20/hour depending on experience. This is a part time (20 hours/week) in person internship.
We select our initial compensation target using national compensation survey data. When we make an offer, we then factor in things like tenure, performance, and geographic location to come up with the most accurate numbers. Primary Job Functions
Assist with projects for principal advisor and other teams
Review and evaluate client estate planning documents.
Review and compare existing portfolio models to new client accounts.
Assist the staff in calculating account values on request.
Attend client meetings with advisors.
Attend wholesaler meetings with advisors.
Attend weekly educational seminars relating to topics within financial planning presented by senior advisors.
Update, maintain and add to library of resources for principal advisor
Research advanced investment ideas and present to advisors for review.
Review and update quarterly presentations relating to account performance.
Compile corporate resources for investment and practice management.
Complete necessary administrative duties
Assist staff with client account maintenance requests.
Collaborate with IT and Marketing in office implementation projects.
Communicate with various custodians regarding client account maintenance.
Assist with the in-office client experience along with client service associates and management.
Collaborate with fellow interns in the organization of the communal office spaces.
Monitor the client relationship management system for key data opportunities.
Complete assigned personal project(s) and present to principal advisor and team
Assist the Marketing team with research on client preferences.
Assist the Investment team with model portfolio resources and internal presentations.
Review client matrices with lead advisor and staff to ensure effective client relationships.
Collaborate with the investment team and fellow interns through an investment exercise. Within this exercise, interns’ model and track a fictional portfolio, write a Request for Proposal for their investment philosophy, and present a final presentation highlighting the performance of the fund and explanation of performed investment ideas.
Update Residency Program Process for up-to-date statistics and information
Ensure residency is periodically updated.
Education/Qualifications:
Preferably Pursuing bachelor’s degree in finance.
Preferably students in their senior year, expected to graduate Spring 2025 or recent graduates
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization
