Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • The position requires a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct research projects and experiments related to life science areas, ensuring protocol adherence, reviewing progress, and evaluating results.
  • Perform experimental tasks including assays, material tests, specimen evaluation, and cultures.
  • Execute and develop data collection procedures; record, correlate, and analyze data; and prepare analysis summaries.
  • Contribute to research-method design, identify potential problems, and recommend solutions and technical approaches.
  • Recommend data collection, management, and visualization software.
  • Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, explaining technology and equipment capabilities, limitations, and outcomes.
  • Develop project protocols and provide input on the feasibility of goals and objectives while assuring quality, cost effectiveness, and timeliness of assigned projects.
  • Author papers, proposals, presentations, and reports to disseminate findings to the research community.
  • Operate a specialized research area or laboratory as needed.
  • Maintain animal colonies and manage breeding.
  • Perform genotyping, animal treatments and monitoring, blood and tissue sample collection and processing, tissue dissection and staining, laboratory assays, western blotting, immunostaining, imaging, data collection, record keeping, basic data analysis, and figure preparation.
  • Support animal protocol documentation, laboratory organization, equipment coordination, and supply management.
  • Supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management, as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a biology, biomedical research, or laboratory setting.
  • Experience with animal handling, laboratory documentation, tissue dissection and processing, molecular and cellular biology techniques, imaging techniques, and data management.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and willingness and ability to learn animal procedures, sample processing, and data collection under supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
