About the role
Techno is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and control efforts on a major infrastructure project in Brooklyn. The person in this role will oversee contractor and vendor quality, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and all applicable standards. This role plays a critical part in delivering infrastructure work safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.
What you'll do
- Develop, review, and approve Quality Programs submitted by contractors and consultants to ensure they align with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular audits (both scheduled and ad hoc) of contractor/consultant quality systems, processes, documentation, and workmanship.
- Oversee and perform inspection & test plans / hold points during construction or installation to verify work meets defined acceptance criteria.
- Monitor contractor’s implementation of approved quality plans, including corrective & preventative actions for any non‑conformances.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, material certifications, test reports, and other documentation to verify conformance before use.
- Manage and maintain quality records, reports, and data analysis: trend issues, recurring defects, failure modes, etc.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, safety, and other stakeholders to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance and training to contractor/onsite teams on quality procedures, inspections, standard practices, and tools.
- Participate in pre‑construction / pre‑mobilization meetings to establish quality expectations and control points.
- Ensure that inspections, testing, and other quality control activities are done in accordance with codes, standards, specifications, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related technical discipline preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in quality management/quality assurance in construction or civil/infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing quality across multiple contractors and subcontractors; strong understanding of contractor oversight.
- Proven track record conducting inspections, audits, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Familiarity with applicable standards and codes (for example contract specifications, construction codes, inspection & test procedures).
- Strong documentation and record‑keeping skills; ability to prepare clear, concise reports.
- Excellent communication skills, able to work with diverse stakeholders: contractors, engineers, inspectors, owners.
- Leadership skills: able to direct, train, motivate onsite teams, enforce quality expectations.
- Strong analytical ability to identify trends, root cause of defects, recommend improvements.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $60 - $75 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
