Requirements
  • A Master's degree or higher with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Psychology.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology; strong organization and thoroughness; ability to work with little supervision; and commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Ability to interact in a courteous and professional manner with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to teach Psychology courses during daytime or evening hours on the Kilgore or Longview campus, at off-campus dual credit sites, and/or online.
  • Completion of online course certification through the Kilgore College Faculty Innovation Center within the first year of employment.
  • Satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three days of being hired.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate the instructional process relating to the Psychology curriculum.
  • Work with other faculty and advisory committees to keep course offerings and degree plans relevant to the community.
  • Keep abreast of developments in Psychology and instructional methodology.
  • Support and participate in professional development programs and activities.
  • Support and adhere to the academic policies and procedures of the college, division, and department.
  • Interpret college policies for students in a positive manner.
  • Develop, maintain, and follow course syllabi.
  • Participate with administration in developing classroom-management guidelines.
  • Participate in advising, registration, and graduation as needed.
  • Communicate with the appropriate chair or dean regarding instructional materials, equipment, and professional development needs.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
  • Administer student course appraisals in compliance with college policy.
  • Attend conferences and seminars to remain current in the field.
  • Represent Kilgore College through college and community activities.
  • Serve on departmental, divisional, and/or college committees.
  • Teach afternoons and/or evenings, including non-peak times, as assigned.
  • Teach dual credit classes in high schools as assigned.
  • Develop and teach web classes and hybrid or remote classes as assigned.
  • Use instructional technology in the classroom.
  • Provide resources for safe operation of units and create and support workplace safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
