A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee-owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking Utility Locating Technician to join our Team in Rockville, MD and add significant value to our company growth. Position can also be located in our Washington, DC office.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret utility maps / plans to identify and mark underground utility locations
- Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
- Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed
- Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance
- Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience locating utilities
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and all types of field conditions
- Physical demands include extensive walking and bending. The employee must have the ability to open manhole covers and or other structure of varying weights
- Ability to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps and various types of utility prints
- Ability to use and interpret various pieces of electromagnetic utility locating equipment
- Ability to multi-task, i.e. make research calls for one project while commuting to another project, coordinate with crew members on various jobs
