Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or technical school certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Candidates must have mechanical aptitude.
  • Candidates must be knowledgeable about automotive and truck systems, tools, and technical resources and be able to independently perform a variety of basic vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Candidates must consistently demonstrate proper use of repair equipment and tools and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Candidates must consistently provide exceptional customer service and improve customer service scores.
  • Technician C candidates must have at least six months of relevant automotive repair experience or completion of a formal automotive training program.
  • Technician B candidates must have at least three years of experience repairing vehicles at a dealership or automotive center.
  • Technician A candidates must have at least five years of experience repairing vehicles at a dealership or automotive center.
  • Technicians must own tools appropriate for their skill level.
  • Technicians must be able to work in heat where facilities do not have air conditioning.
  • Technicians must be able to remain on their feet in a concrete facility for the entire work shift.
  • Technicians must be able to lift and carry automotive parts and equipment weighing up to approximately 80 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Drive vehicles into service bays, prepare them for service, and complete digital vehicle inspections.
  • Perform general automotive maintenance and repairs.
  • Test drive vehicles and prepare them for delivery after required repairs and maintenance are complete.
  • Keep the shop clean and organized.
  • Perform automotive repairs, adjustments, and maintenance procedures as outlined on repair orders.
  • Complete fluid exchanges, wheel alignments, brake services, basic repairs, and maintenance services.
  • Work with, mentor, and train less experienced technicians.
  • Perform advanced repair and maintenance services.
  • Complete electrical repairs, diagnostic repairs, and drivability diagnostics.
Desired Qualifications
  • G1-Auto Maintenance & Light Repair certification is preferred.
  • A state inspection certificate is preferred where applicable.
  • Air Conditioning 609 certification is preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certifications, including A4 Suspension & Steering and A5 Brakes, or equivalent, are preferred for Technician C.
  • Two additional Automotive Service Excellence certifications or equivalent are preferred for Technician B.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certifications A1-A8 with Master Technician designation, or an equivalent combination of technician certifications, are preferred for Technician A.
  • L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist certification is preferred for Technician A.
