Role Overview
The Assistant Manager – Engineering will support the Portfolio Engineering Manager in overseeing engineering operations across 12 Holiday Inn Express hotels in India. The role will focus on ensuring optimal performance of all technical systems, compliance with brand and statutory standards, cost control, and effective vendor management.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support
- Assist in monitoring day-to-day engineering operations across all assigned properties.
- Track performance of critical systems including HVAC (VRV/VRF), DG sets, electrical, plumbing, STP/ETP, and fire & life safety systems.
- Review daily/weekly/monthly engineering reports from hotels and highlight gaps.
- Preventive Maintenance & Audits
- Ensure implementation and adherence to preventive maintenance schedules across all hotels.
- Conduct periodic technical audits (physical/remote) and track closure of observations.
- Standardize maintenance practices across the portfolio.
- Vendor & AMC Management
- Coordinate AMC contracts (HVAC, DG, elevators, etc.) and ensure timely renewals.
- Evaluate vendor performance and assist in negotiations and cost optimization.
- Track service deliverables against agreed SLAs.
- Projects & CAPEX Support
- Assist in execution of CAPEX projects, refurbishments, and major repairs.
- Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and hotel teams to ensure timely completion.
- Monitor budgets and control project costs.
- Energy Management
- Track energy consumption across hotels and identify optimization opportunities.
- Support implementation of energy-saving initiatives and sustainability practices.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all properties comply with statutory requirements (electrical, fire, pollution control, etc.).
- Track renewals of licenses and certifications.
- Promote safe working practices across all engineering teams.
- MIS & Reporting
- Prepare portfolio-level dashboards, reports, and analysis for management review.
- Maintain documentation related to maintenance, compliance, and projects.
- Travel
- Frequent travel to hotels for audits, inspections, and project follow-ups.
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- HVAC systems (VRV/VRF Knowledge non-negotiable)
- Diesel Generators & Electrical Systems
- Plumbing & Water Treatment Systems (STP/WTP)
- Fire & Life Safety Systems
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis
Experience Required
- 3-5 years of experience in hotel engineering / facility management
- Prior experience in handling multiple sites or cluster roles preferred
- Experience with branded hotels will be an advantage
- Exposure to AMC management, audits, and project execution is essential
