Requirements
  • A master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school is required; in selected instances, a graduate degree in a related discipline may be substituted for a master's degree in library science.
  • Experience working collegially, collaboratively, and independently with varied groups across a complex organization and in a rapidly changing team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, including the ability to actively listen, understand user needs, and translate them into functional system improvements.
  • Commitment to customer service standards and user-centered design.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, meet deadlines, and develop creative and flexible solutions to problems.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment, build partnerships, and promote the benefits of change in an academic culture.
  • Ability to design and implement effective programs, projects, and services and bring them to completion promptly.
  • Knowledge of techniques for evaluating and assessing information literacy programs and instruction.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate on projects with the Academic Research and Education Team, Clinical Research and Education Team, and Technology and Innovation Team across the medical campus.
  • Provide reference, information, citation management, research, and consultation services for students and researchers throughout the research life cycle.
  • Participate in the medical library's general instruction program and prepare and present classes on biomedical databases and platforms, open science and scholarly publication trends, citation management tools, biomedical research strategies, research impact, and citation analysis.
  • Work on scholarly communication, open access, and publishing projects and help promote new publishing models to diverse user groups.
  • Create and maintain online guides and other research support tools for emerging areas of interest.
  • Participate in departmental, library, and system-wide planning and engage in campus, regional, and national professional organizations and collaborative activities.
  • Serve as a project manager for short-term projects when assigned.
  • Serve on departmental committees.
  • Demonstrate professional development and service through publication or active membership in professional organizations.
  • Assist in disaster recovery efforts when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
