Requirements
  • High school degree required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science preferred
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in the construction field
  • Knowledge of routine ACI concrete field testing and laboratory concrete strength testing procedures
  • Knowledge of nuclear densometer testing for soil compaction
  • Preferred knowledge and familiarity with other testing services such as asphalt, steel, fireproofing, paint thickness, roofing materials, plastic pipe, reinforced pipe, and Special Inspections per IBC
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients
  • High technical standards and state-of-the-art knowledge
  • Experience in project supervision on large and complex projects
  • Experience in managing technical standards, multi-disciplinary teams, and client relationships
Responsibilities
  • Preparing proposals and fee estimates for technical contracts
  • Invoicing projects and managing collection activities
  • Conducting difficult and complex assignments
  • Directing personnel in field and laboratory studies
  • Ensuring projects are completed within time and budget
  • Making routine job site visits and attending project site meetings
  • Maintaining client relationships and developing new clients
  • Providing on-the-job training to subordinates
  • Participating in business development and client contact program
  • Ensuring laboratory quality control and maintaining accreditation
  • Keeping updated on technical and regulatory issues
  • Participating in safety programs and training
  • Attending staff meetings and safety meetings
  • Checking work adherence to time, costs, and personnel scheduling
  • Participating in client negotiations and technical meetings
