Job Description
The Senior IT Business Analyst will report directly to the Sr. Director of IT Planning and Financial Management within Western Digital’s Office of the CIO. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial analysis background with an attention to detail and be able to operate in a dynamic environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate as a trusted advisor to OCIO management and IT leadership.
- Build and maintain the annual budget plan to forecast, partnering with Finance business partner to align with targets.
- Identify and develop IT variance to plan and project reporting by IT function and sub-function. This will include data identification, consolidation, and validation to support consistent and accurate monthly/quarterly/annual reporting.
- Coordinate the monthly close activities within IT and in partnership with Finance, including expense and capital management, accruals, forecast to actuals variance reconciliation.
- Assess current state and implement improvements for OCIO tools and processes for Annual Plan to facilitate project level intake, review, and approval for simple transition into the formal Annual Plan for the upcoming fiscal year.
- Build and maintain centralized data repository which allows OCIO and IT leadership to quickly understand the consolidated, yet detailed IT spend for the prior rolling 3-5 fiscal years. This includes tracking, reporting and metrics for transformational spend, detailed asset and software licensing/maintenance schedules, spend by business area.
- Support analytics on total cost of ownership of initiatives, return on investment, net present value, lease vs buy, and other relevant analytics in support of IT initiatives and investment areas.
- Support other aspects of financial forecasting, intake and processing of funding requests and purchase requisitions as needed.
- Manage the IT headcount plan and engage with IT leadership to prioritize and achieve hiring objectives.
- Make clear, logical decisions based on facts, taking into consideration the big picture, long and short term effects, and exercising sound judgment when handling complaints, confidential and sensitive topics.
- Provide support and training to IT colleagues regarding the IT financial planning and management process.
It is essential that this person have the ability to build strong business relationships, understand IT financial processes, and display strong teamwork skills. This individual must be self-motivated and have prior similar experience in both International and US-based IT purchasing and contract management services capital and understand IT deliverables and contracts.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- BS in Finance, Computer/Management Information Services or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- 10+ years of experience working in organizations with complex accounting and financial reporting
- Combination of conceptual and analytical capabilities
SKILLS
- Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills
- Master level capabilities with Excel, e.g. pivots
- Experience with Oracle Financials, Smartview, Power BI and SmartSheet strongly desired
- Advanced skills with data analytics tools such as PowerPivot, PowerQuery, Excel VBA and/or equivalent tools preferred
