Requirements
  • Experience with locating gas utilities is highly preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to meet company motor vehicle record standards are required.
  • Ability to work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year is required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication is required.
Responsibilities
  • Promote and enforce safe digging practices in accordance with state 811 dig laws.
  • Visit active job sites using a company-provided vehicle to communicate with contractors and homeowners regarding safe excavation procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate corrections or updates to gas utility markings as needed.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of utility markings.
  • Accurately document daily activities, observations, and field findings.
  • Assist with identifying marked utilities, structures, and map information in the field.
  • Perform operator-level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Peak Rock Capital has sold SAM Companies, a geospatial and inspection services provider for utilities and critical infrastructure, to New Mountain Capital. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under Peak Rock's ownership since 2021, SAM more than doubled revenue, completed 19 acquisitions, and expanded from its original footprint to add 25 offices. The company now serves 20 of the top 25 US utilities, providing end-to-end geospatial intelligence services across the critical infrastructure lifecycle. SAM, founded in 1994 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, uses advanced scientific methods to capture and analyse infrastructure data, supporting grid modernisation and AI-driven infrastructure investment. The company has developed technical and AI capabilities positioning it as an industry leader in the sector. Guggenheim Securities and Houlihan Lokey advised on the transaction.
