We are looking for a passionate and creative collaborator to help us scale up our platform as we continue to integrate with massive communities. Work closely with a wide range of engineers across functions to create effective, transparent, operable systems. Advise us on how to best use available tools to solve our thorniest problems. Support your colleagues with tailored access and enablement solutions to keep our systems safe without creating undue friction. Think through tradeoffs, resolve unknowns, prove out approaches, and support Modulate in making key decisions as we solidify our foundations and prepare for the future.
Modulate’s engineering team is at an exciting inflection point, defining new standards and processes to power future growth for a fast-growing customer base. Your skill and expertise will contribute to shaping strong engineering practices for Modulate as a whole.
The salary for this position is set at $150,000/yr.

You will advise on, plan, and execute work across these areas:
- Scalability and operability development in an AWS environment to allow Modulate to continue to create safe communities in even the largest online spaces.
- Better usage of AWS and other tools to solve Modulate’s challenges.
- Internal tooling to support streamlined least-permission access for Modulators to key systems and workflows to support and unblock your colleagues.
Additional role responsibilities:
- Collaborate with domain experts in machine learning and real time audio programming to bring research algorithms into well-supported production systems.
- Share your knowledge of best practices across domains and collaborate with your colleagues to build shared, effective engineering practices.
- Peer review designs and code with the other engineers on the team.
Desired qualifications
- Experience working in a cloud service (preferably AWS)
- Proficiency working with networking, data flow, and data pipelines (relational and non-relational databases, queues, data flow between systems, etc.)
- Proficiency in at least one coding language, at least one coding best-practices framework, and object-oriented programming.
- Bonus: Familiarity with or experience in implementing DevOps practices
