Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC Certification is required.
  • One to two years of related experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder is required, preferably within an Opioid Treatment Program.
  • Knowledge or training in Trauma-Informed Care and various organizational treatment approaches is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with persons with co-occurring disorders is required.
  • Knowledge of laws regarding personnel and client information is required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary counselor for a caseload of substance use disorder patients.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, conduct assessments, coordinate services, provide psychoeducation and referrals, and keep required documentation up to date.
  • Develop treatment plans with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor that address specialized track issues and patients' physical, medical, cognitive, psychosocial, and diagnostic needs.
  • Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to collaborate with patients and internal and external treatment team members in support of treatment and recovery.
  • Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others supporting patients' recovery.
  • Engage patients in decision-making and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care.
  • Collect and review referral information, consult as needed to coordinate services, and schedule patient interviews.
  • Make referrals to appropriate programs and agencies based on assessments and patients' treatment needs.
  • Assist patients with scheduling an admission or first appointment at the referred program or facility.
  • Monitor patients' access to and involvement with treatment and other providers, addressing barriers to treatment and recovery.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder within an Opioid Treatment Program is preferred.
