Developers use these APIs to build and scale communication features directly inside their apps. The product works by making it easy to program communications: you send calls or messages through API requests, manage video sessions, and integrate email, all on a pay-as-you-go basis that scales with usage. Twilio stands out from competitors by focusing on developer-friendly APIs that cover multiple channels in one platform, supporting customers from startups to large enterprises with global reach and optional consulting services. The company’s goal is to help any business communicate with customers at scale by providing reliable, programmable communications across channels.

Twilio has unveiled new AI-powered customer engagement platform capabilities for Latin America, aiming to address persistent communication challenges in customer service. The company is introducing four features: Agent Connect, Conversation Orchestrator, Conversation Memory, and Conversation Intelligence, designed to maintain conversation continuity across different channels and touchpoints. A Twilio Customer Insights Series report revealed nearly all surveyed businesses struggle with understanding customer preferences and unifying data across channels. For Q3, Twilio projects revenue between $1.505 billion and $1.515 billion, representing 16% to 16.5% growth year-over-year, with organic revenue growth expected at 11% to 12%. However, analysts note risks from intense competition with Zendesk, Salesforce, and cloud providers, alongside exposure to Latin America's economic uncertainties and regulatory challenges.
Twilio has surged 57% in 2025, outperforming Palantir Technologies (down 3%) and SoundHound AI (down 29%) as demand for AI software accelerates. Gartner projects AI software spending will jump 60% this year to $453 billion. The cloud communications specialist reported second-quarter revenue of $1.5 billion, up 22% year over year, with non-GAAP earnings per share rising 23% to $1.47. Organic revenue grew 17%. Twilio's improving growth stems from its AI tools, which help clients predict customer behaviour, build AI agents, and automate workflows. One automotive fintech client using Twilio's conversational AI platform saw lead conversion increase 1.6 times, leading to a seven-figure deal. The company has expanded beyond its core application programming interfaces for voice, text, email, chat, and video communications.

Following the sale, Stafman retains approximately 133,000 shares across direct and indirect accounts, representing roughly 0.088% of Twilio's outstanding shares. Twilio provides cloud-based communications platforms through APIs, serving customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.

For the first time in human history, a rich understanding of language is available as a utility, delivered via API, useful enough to “be metered”. Intelligence has become a tool: something you can call, compose, and build on, divorced from any individual human mind.
