Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a Senior Payroll Administrator to join our finance team supporting our mission to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state electric vehicle batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The Sr. Payroll Administrator performs timely preparation, processing, and accounting of payroll and timesheet processes. This role partners closely with Human Resources. Corporate Accounting, and Legal Stock Administration. The Administrator contributes to the Finance department’s expectation to provide outstanding employee service while adhering to all SOX documentation and procedure requirements.
Job Duties:
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll registers, to include regular earnings and equity compensation registers, oversee accurate and timely timesheet administration.
- Ensure accurate tracking in HRIS system of all payroll-related data including new hires, terminations, promotions, PTO balances, benefit premiums, 401(k) deferrals / company match calculations, benefits deductions, mandated taxes, etc.
- Assist in documenting and updating standard operating procedures for standard & equity payrolls, annual bonus, off-cycle bonus, severance and other non-standard agreements.
- Assist in the internal and external audit process by providing support and explanation for the information and data requested.
- Develop fluency of knowledge of the department’s processes and Internal Controls and their consistent application, and contribute to identifying changes and improvements thereto.
- Preparation of accurate and timely variance analysis and payroll-related account reconciliations.
- Preparation of all payroll-related journal entries (for all regular and equity payroll registers, as well as month-end accruals) to ensure accurate and timely financials for the Company.
- Regularly and effectively communicate with internal personnel in other offices, departments, and throughout all levels of the organization.
- Foster and maintain relationships with Human Resources, Corporate Accounting, and Legal Stock Administrator roles to report accurate reports of payroll-related information.
- Stay informed on prevailing laws and regulations related to payroll and assist in the Company’s application of such laws and regulations.
- Troubleshoot issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, or equivalent business degree preferred
- At least 1 year of payroll experience in a publicly traded company with equity compensation processing, required.
- UKG and SAP experience, strongly preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and willing to learn.
- Foundational payroll knowledge in order to operate with little oversight.
- Possess intermediate to advanced technical PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel (payroll or other similarly related software knowledge is a plus).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within the department and across all levels of the company.
- Detail oriented professional with strong written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability and desire to provide an outstanding level of customer service.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in a professional and discrete manner.
- Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and prioritize work within the time constraints of a deadline focused function.
- Accomplished incumbent typically possessing a minimum of 5 years job related experience, established position specific skills, and working knowledge of other inter-departmental functions.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of working in front of a computer screen(s).
Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000
