Motorola Solutions' APX NEXT XN becomes first radio to achieve NFPA 1930 certification

Motorola Solutions announced that its APX NEXT XN P25 smart radio and XVN500 remote speaker microphone are the first in the industry to achieve the National Fire Protection Association's NFPA 1930 certification. This latest standard supersedes NFPA 1802 and represents the highest level of ruggedisation with new software safety protocols. The devices underwent rigorous testing, including exposure to direct flame, heat testing to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and drop testing from 9.8 feet. The latest APX NEXT XN model adds low earth orbit satellite connectivity to LMR and broadband, extending coverage to approximately half a million square miles of the US traditionally unreachable by land-based cellular towers.
