This position is based out of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area where you will start as fully remote and then transition to hybrid once offices are opened in those locations. 

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.

What You’ll Do

As Head of Government Relations at LILT, you will build and lead our government relations strategy, focusing on developing relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector while navigating complex regulatory landscapes. You will play a crucial role in positioning LILT as a trusted partner in AI-powered translation solutions for government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute LILT’s government relations strategy across federal, state, and local levels

• Cultivate relationships with government officials, agencies, and key decision-makers

• Partner with our business development team to advocate for new and existing customers

• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting AI technology and language services

• Lead advocacy efforts and represent LILT in government meetings and industry events

• Collaborate with internal teams to align government relations initiatives with business objectives

• Create and manage educational programs to inform policymakers about AI language technology

Skills and Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in government relations, preferably in technology or AI sectors

• Defense or Intelligence Community appropriations experience highly desired

• Strategic ability to understand a technology product and business goals and devise an appropriations plan

• Strong network of relationships within federal government agencies and the legislative branch

• Deep understanding of federal procurement processes and compliance requirements

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Bachelor’s degree required

Our Story

Our founders, Spence and John met at Google working on Google Translate.  As researchers at Stanford and Berkeley, they both worked on language technology to make information accessible to everyone. They were amazed to learn that Google Translate wasn’t used for enterprise products and services inside the company and left to start a new company to address this need – LILT. 

At its core, LILT has always been a machine learning company since its incorporation on March 6, 2015. At the time, machine translation didn’t meet the quality standard for enterprise translations, so LILT assembled a cutting-edge research team tasked with closing that gap. While meeting customer demand for translation services, LILT has prioritized investments in Large Language Models, believing that this foundation was imperative to the future of enterprise translation.
