Job Description Summary

The LPN is to assist with the responsibility for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The LPN is responsible for selective activities in directing, coordinating all nursing care based on established
clinical nursing practices under the direction of the RN.

The LPN collaborates with the RN and is responsible for overseeing the health and medical care of patients at MUSC Health Marion Medical Center. The primary emphasis of the position is to ensure each patient’s medical, nutritional, and emotional needs are met. The nurse will utilize his/her knowledge of growth and development, cultural, religious and ethnic differences in providing appropriate care to the patient as well as in updating an ongoing plan of care for the patient.

Job Description

The LPN is to assist with the responsibility for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.  The LPN is responsible for selective activities in directing, coordinating all nursing care based on established

Education:

• Completion of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nursing. 

• Completion of IV Therapy Course and/or maintain working in a setting of IV therapy administration.

Experience: 

• Minimal of 2-5 years’ experience as a licensed nurse.

• Previous hospital experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates:

• Current Practical Nurse license issued by the LLR Board of Nursing for South Carolina or Compact Licensure Agreement.

• Current certification in BLS and to be maintained biannually.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects, depth perception. Additional Job Description

Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program with six months of patient care experience required. Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card. Ability to demonstrate commitment to patient centered care philosophy as evidenced by effective communications skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability and motivation to articulate and support departmental philosophy of excellent guest relations. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be computer literate. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
