Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software design and engineering.
  • Experience with C, C++, or Java. Python experience is an asset.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Familiar with cybersecurity principals and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.
  • Occasional international travel may be required; therefore, candidates will need to provide proof that they have no national/international travel or visa restrictions.
  • Self motivating.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to provide off hours support as part of a call-out rotation.
  • Travel, support of projects across multiple time zones and other project requirements may require overtime.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
  • The candidate should also have the ability to obtain a NATO secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, monitor and maintain the GEO satellite control systems in use for the current GEO fleet operated by Telesat.
  • Monitor and maintain the Lightspeed satellite control systems for the upcoming Lightspeed fleet of spacecraft.
  • Develop and maintain software related to the control systems and to satellite operations.
  • Assist the Satellite Control Center and Satellite Operations user community in their efforts related to the utilization of the control systems and related software.
  • Participate in Spacecraft Transfer Orbit missions.
