Requirements
  • Must be able to drive daily locally or regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
  • Must have at least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting.
  • Must have good personal computer skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Must be able to remain drug-free and pass pre-employment and periodic random drug tests.
  • Must pass an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations, and pass a fit-for-duty physical examination.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, including occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be willing to travel a minimum of 40%.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up activities, and collect data for low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems at industrial and commercial customer sites.
  • Perform instrument transformer tests.
  • Perform power transformer testing using Doble, turns-ratio testing, and insulation-resistance testing.
  • Test electromechanical and solid-state relays.
  • Perform cable testing, including tan delta, power factor, very-low-frequency, and direct-current hipot testing.
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
  • Test low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
Desired Qualifications
  • NETA Certification I, II, III, or IV, or similar certification.
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls, or an electrical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college; similar military experience and training may be considered.
  • Experience with PowerDB.
  • OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, CPR, First Aid, bloodborne pathogens, and AED training.
