Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned tour of duty in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of nursing activities.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
  • Ensure that nursing service personnel comply with the Nursing Service Procedures Manual and their respective job descriptions.
  • Make written and oral reports and recommendations to the Director concerning operation of the nursing service department.
  • Assist in coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in the facility's quality assurance program and facility surveys as requested.
  • Review and update resident discharge plans and assist with the nursing services portion of discharge planning.
  • Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan department services, programs, and activities.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required and complete accident and incident reports.
  • Attend facility committee meetings and prepare reports for committees as directed.
  • Provide information to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee and participate in Care Plan Committee agenda development and discharge-plan reviews.
  • Implement recommendations from established committees as instructed by the Director.
  • Ensure adequate licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants are available for each shift.
  • Develop work assignments and delegate administrative authority and accountability to Charge Nurses.
  • Ensure nurse aide trainees are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved training program and work under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Make daily rounds, monitor absenteeism, review complaints and grievances, and report findings or problem areas to the Director.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing requirements, and make recommendations concerning dismissals and transfers.
  • Administer departmental disciplinary action fairly and report occupational exposures, fraud, and unauthorized information-system access.
  • Inform nursing personnel of new admissions and ensure rooms are ready for admissions.
  • Greet and escort newly admitted residents as necessary.
  • Make rounds with physicians and encourage timely completion of progress notes and physician orders.
  • Consult with residents, families, and physicians in planning care, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Notify attending physicians and next of kin of changes in residents' conditions.
  • Visit residents daily to observe and evaluate physical and emotional status.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary, including starting intravenous lines, obtaining specimens, and taking vital signs.
  • Review nurses' notes, medication cards, treatment schedules, and resident care plans for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Assist the Charge Nurse in monitoring seriously ill residents and authorize restraints when necessary in accordance with facility policies.
  • Monitor medication passes and treatments and ensure compliance with medication administration, storage, and control procedures.
  • Inspect treatment areas and ensure resident rooms and nursing work areas are clean, safe, and sanitary.
  • Meet with residents and family members, arrange transportation for discharged residents, and notify family members and funeral homes when a resident dies.
  • Develop, plan, conduct, and schedule in-service training classes and assist with annual facility training programs.
  • Assist in planning clinical supervision for nurse aide trainees and attend continuing education programs.
  • Assist the Safety Officer and Infection Control Coordinator with safety standards, exposure-control procedures, infection control, and disaster preparedness.
  • Ensure personnel use personal protective equipment, follow hand hygiene and infection-control procedures, and safely operate equipment.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs, maintain adequate medication and medical supply stock, and participate in preventive maintenance and equipment-safety procedures.
  • Participate in written resident assessments and care plans, review resident goals and approaches, and assist with MDS, RAPs, and Triggers.
  • Keep abreast of economic conditions and recommend nursing-service adjustments and equipment needs to the Director.
  • Report suspected or known fraud involving false billings, cost reports, and kickbacks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.

PACS Group beats Q1 estimates with $0.50 EPS and $1.42B revenue despite 12.5% year-to-date stock decline

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has acquired Ridgeway Senior Living, a post-acute care facility in Anchorage, Alaska, marking its fourth property in the state. PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
