Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a health science is required.
  • Relevant experience is required: PharmD or PhD with 5+ years of experience, MBA or MSc with 7+ years of experience, or BA or BSc with 8+ years of experience.
  • Subject matter expertise in malignant hematology recognized across internal and external stakeholders is required.
  • Currently reside in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, or Hawaii, with preference for major cities in Northern California, Oregon, or Washington.
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of projects in a remote environment, prioritize effectively, implement successfully, exercise sound judgment, and work in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Ability to work within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team and foster professional Pfizer/customer relationships aligned with Pfizer medical objectives.
  • Ability to lead change in an evolving external healthcare environment and adapt to organizational change.
  • Ability to problem-solve and network across the enterprise to identify solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, and Hawaii, coordinating compliantly with Pfizer colleagues as needed.
  • Maintain required knowledge of malignant hematology disease states and Pfizer medicines, and provide therapeutic-area and product information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a conduit and resource for medical information and customer insights, providing information to healthcare professionals as permitted and sharing customer viewpoints with Pfizer.
  • Contribute to medical content strategy development and execute aligned field medical tactics.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with headquarters medical colleagues and other Pfizer field medical colleagues.
  • Communicate across live and virtual presentations, written communication, telephone conversations, and virtual conversations.
  • Optimize patient-centered medical communications and deliverables using health literacy and cultural-awareness principles.
  • Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines and relevant malignant hematology topics.
  • Identify and seek medical engagement from priority malignant hematology customer segments.
  • Provide truthful, accurate, scientifically supported information in response to unsolicited medical requests from healthcare professionals in compliance with Pfizer guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Handle inbound healthcare professional queries through the established triage process.
  • Partner with Oncology Research & Development and Global Product Development to identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, including sites serving underrepresented patient populations.
  • Provide medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.
  • Cultivate research and malignant hematology expertise through familiarity with current congress data and disease-state literature.
  • Provide asset leadership and strong territory leadership.
  • Communicate reactively and proactively with local patient advocacy groups in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and Headquarters Medical Affairs.
  • Deliver insights on local patient-organization structure, capabilities, and patient-population needs.
  • Serve on medical, therapeutic-area, and asset cross-functional committees as appropriate.
  • Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs leadership with clinical and professional associations and societies while demonstrating medical professionalism.
  • Mentor colleagues as an onboarding partner and mentor for advisory boards and studies.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree, such as a Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Health Sciences, is highly preferred.
  • Deep expertise or clinical experience in malignant hematology is preferred.
  • An established network of healthcare professionals in the assigned territory is preferred.
  • Familiarity with internal and external standard operating procedures, rules, and regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions and relationships is preferred.
  • Previous field medical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and demonstrate leadership and teamwork with peers, internal stakeholders, and external customers to create alignment and partnership is preferred.

Pfizer raises guidance to $62.5B as BioNTech cuts forecast amid $928M loss
