Position Description:
This position will join the corporate inhouse counsel team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support to the Senior Counsel and General Counsel
- Prepare legal documents, proposals, agreements, opinions, correspondence and other legal documents including fact-checking and proofreading of contracts, standards and guidelines
- Participate in hearings, negotiations and mediations on behalf of the company regarding right-of-way and land use activities
- Negotiate contracts for Engineering Services, Consultant Services, Utility, and other related services.
- Advise stakeholders, and sometimes the public, on interpretations of the law affecting land owners, counterparties, service providers, representative, customers, and other groups
- Develop and review project contracts and amendments, identify areas of risk and propose strategic guidance to Senior Counsel
- Interpret laws and regulations related to the business activities of the Company.
- Coordinate the execution of documents, track signature requirements and facilitate distribution of final, executed materials
- Draft applications, responses to requests for information, extension requests, etc.
- Monitor recurring contractual obligations and timely report to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain an organized schedule and record of time-sensitive deadlines for filings and responses to local, state or federal entities, or 3rd parties
- Conduct legal research to support projects and communicate any legislation that may impact the company’s business, project or process
- Compare legal documents and identify any changes as requested by the legal team and 3rd parties
- Organize and maintain integrity of corporate records – both paper and electronic.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all levels of internal staff and external stakeholders

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from accredited law school
- Licensed Attorney by the State of Texas
- 3+ years of Legal experience, either in the corporate department of a company or law firm
- Previous Oil & Gas or Land experience is a plus
- Litigation Experience a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- High proficiency Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & Outlook
- Strong business awareness, ability to use good judgement, logical reasoning and can make effective decisions in the best interest of the company
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with high attention to detail and strong project management skills to successfully handle multiple projects at a time
- Exceptional communication and time-management skills and can adjust quickly to last minute changes
