Requirements
  • A current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Responsibilities
  • Administer all medications and treatments during the shift according to the established medical and nursing care plan.
  • Work under the direction of the Head or Charge Nurse to provide nursing care to all residents on the unit.
  • Continuously evaluate residents' behavior, symptoms, reactions, and progress, and discuss findings with the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Administer and document medications according to established policies and procedures, physician orders, and Department of Health regulations.
  • Perform treatments according to physicians' specific orders and established policies and procedures.
  • Discuss the need to discontinue or change a medication or treatment with the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Order prescribed medications, notify the pharmacy of discontinued medications, and ensure the accuracy of medications and dosages received from the pharmacy.
