We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Tax Analyst to join our Indirect Tax team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in New York City and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As an Indirect Tax Senior Analyst, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing tax compliance processes, managing controversy activities, and advising on indirect tax issues. We will count on you to:
- Serve as the primary contact for auditors on day-to-day activities related to tax audits and inquiries.
- Conduct research and analysis of positions taken during audits, gather data and documentation, prepare IDR responses to support defense and resolution strategies.
- Assist with complex compliance issues, including reverse audits, and Voluntary Disclosure Agreements (VDAs).
- Advise the business on indirect tax issues to ensure compliance and optimize tax positions.
- Review and analyze transactions for indirect tax implications, supporting M&A integration and other operational activities.
- Identify opportunities for automation, process efficiencies, and technology enhancements within tax compliance and reporting functions.
- Provide guidance and oversight to analyst and interns on compliance activities.
- Support the Assistant Director, Indirect Tax as required on all Indirect Tax matters.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in tax / accounting
- 2-3 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance, audit management, or related roles, preferably within a corporate environment
- Strong understanding of sales and use tax laws, regulations, and compliance procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with auditors and internal teams
- Demonstrates a strong desire for professional growth and a proactive mindset to develop leadership skills

All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.The applicable base salary range for this role is $72,000 to $144,000.The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
