Responsibilities
  • Synthesizing novel chemical intermediates and final compounds
  • Conducting literature research for compound synthesis and design
  • Setting up, monitoring and working-up chemical reactions
  • Purifying compounds by automated chromatography (ISCO combi-flash or ACCQprep) or recrystallization
  • Learning about and applying medicinal chemistry and CNS-drug discovery principles to projects
  • Interpreting biological assay data and understanding structure-activity relationship
  • Maintaining a complete laboratory notebook
  • Interacting with chemistry, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology as well as preclinical department within the company
  • Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
  • Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
