Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A valid driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the College’s authorized driver policy to drive college-owned vehicles.
  • Knowledge of athletics within a liberal arts college environment and proven experience recruiting student-athletes to highly selective institutions.
  • Strong administrative, interpersonal, computer, and technology skills.
  • Appropriate First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and automated external defibrillator certifications, or willingness to complete them upon hire when working independently with student-athletes.
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, internet research, menu-driven databases, and equipment used to improve department systems and processes.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and clearly through verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, telephone, and customer-service interactions; follow written and verbal instructions and seek clarification when needed.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet regular attendance requirements, work holidays, weekends, and evenings, travel as required, perform heavy physical work up to 50 pounds, and pass a full consumer background check.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach with developing and implementing training and instruction for practices and competitions, particularly for goalkeepers.
  • Provide administrative support for the sports program, including completing paperwork, coordinating team travel, creating practice plans, developing scholar-athletes and teams, and collaborating with athletics staff in sports medicine, business operations, compliance, equipment, facilities, and events.
  • Recruit and retain academically qualified student-athletes for Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges.
  • Comply with NCAA Division III, CMS Athletics, and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules and guidelines, and report violations or concerns to the CMS Compliance Department.
  • Maintain good standing in required training and certifications, including concussion management, mental health resources, and sexual violence prevention.
  • Represent the CMS Athletic Department and men’s soccer program positively within the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and regionally and nationally.
  • Teach, mentor, and inspire students from a broad range of socioeconomic backgrounds, political opinions, genders, races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, and religions.
