Requirements
  • DVM or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited or equivalent institution
  • Board-certification by or board-eligibility for the American or European College of Veterinary Pathology
Responsibilities
  • Pathology support and digital image analysis for clients of the CPDISR, including but not limited to evaluation, photomicrography and scoring of tissue samples (routine and special histochemical stains and immunohistochemistry) with project completion and data provision to CPDISR clients within a standardized time frame
  • Participation in collaborative research projects and applications submitted to external funding agencies by CPDISR clients
  • Project consultation and guidance for design of translational animal model studies
  • Grant and manuscript assistance and support for pathology results reporting in publications
  • Clinical and didactic teaching of professional students and residents in anatomic and clinical pathology
  • Participation in Histopathology Seminar, Specialty Pathology Rounds including Laboratory Animal Pathology Rounds, and others where applicable
  • Participation in college, department, and graduate guidance committee work
  • Model and promote a culture of collegiality and academic citizenship
  • Adhere to external, university, college, VMC, and department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • PhD
  • Demonstrated background in pathobiology of laboratory animals
  • Demonstrated expertise and support for investigator-initiated research
  • Experience in digital image analysis
  • Experience in, or knowledge to assist in, the development of new analytical approaches
  • Evidence of collaboration and/or Co-PI on research grants
  • Scholarly track-record consistent with rank
  • Experience in the classroom and laboratory teaching of veterinary students
  • Experience in the training of anatomic and/or clinical pathology residents
  • Evidence of mentoring (e.g. students, trainees, staff, peer)
  • Evidence of supporting a culture of collegiality and academic citizenship
