Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 9-12 years of major gift fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Tact and discretion with confidential information.
  • The ability to work with a diverse range of constituents, including donors, board members and volunteers, as well as alumni, parents, friends, faculty, administrators and internal colleagues.
  • A demonstrated track record of success in meeting major gift goals.
  • Experience in raising 6 and 7-figure gifts.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • A high energy level and flexible nature.
  • The ability to travel, which may include international destinations and work on nights/weekends.
  • A respect and passion for mission-driven institutions.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead fundraiser for Georgetown’s philanthropic footprint in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic US, as well as Latin America.
  • Ensure the comprehensive build out of regional philanthropic strategies and execution plans.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of current and prospective donors.
  • Ask for and raise major, planned, and principal gifts.
  • Plan and implement appropriate and effective regionally focused strategies for Georgetown’s principal, major, planned and leadership gift prospects.
  • Liaise with members of the University across all the academic units and university-wide initiatives.
  • Partner with Georgetown leadership, including Vice Presidents, Deans and faculty members.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward gifts of $250,000 and above from individuals and select foundations and corporations.
  • Raise $3-5M+ annually and conduct approximately 100 visits each FY.
  • Manage three frontline fundraisers and two development associates, leading a team of five development professionals.
  • Be the primary lead on an effective plan for the DC Unaligned Strategy project.
  • Act as a philanthropic consultant to the Vice Provost for Strategic Education and Initiatives.
