Requirements
  • An active Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalency for licensing is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 0-25 pounds is required, with occasional handling of objects weighing 25-50 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, vision and depth perception, hearing and speech, and keyboard use/data entry are required.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping are required; rare climbing is required.
Responsibilities
  • Complete behavioral health intake assessments.
  • Coordinate patient placement and care plans.
  • Document evaluations and support crisis intervention.
  • Evaluate the severity of illness for elective, direct, and urgent admissions to determine the appropriate level of patient care.
  • Review physician orders for clinical appropriateness, completeness, and proper admission status.
  • Coordinate education and development for internal staff and external departments to ensure understanding of the intake review and approval process.
  • Conduct complex clinical reviews for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary service requests for medical necessity.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring nursing care is delivered according to patient age-specific and clinical needs.
  • Use professional nursing standards and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to current and evolving patient and population health needs.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
