Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for small molecule and polymer pre-formulation characterization to enable drug product development
  • Design and execute physicochemical studies (including characterization, preliminary stability and compatibility studies), interpret the outcome of studies, and propose appropriate follow-up studies
  • Propose optimization of preclinical molecular entity and prototype formulation properties (e.g. stable polymorph identification, optimal solubility, pH and buffering capacity, etc.)
  • Support formulation development for pharmacology and toxicology studies to achieve the desired tissue coverage, safety, and/or mechanism of action in preclinical studies
  • Perform data analysis using appropriate statistical methods, including DOE
  • Work internally and with external partners to help drive Pharma project development
  • Prepare technical protocols and reports
  • Report and treat data with a high level of GDP and integrity
Desired Qualifications
  • 8+ years relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive knowledge of pre-formulation/formulation development of liquid, suspension emulsion, ointment and implant pharmaceutical products containing small molecule active ingredients
  • Experience in the preparation and characterization of ophthalmic dosage forms, including polymer-containing formulations
  • Strong analytical background with working knowledge/hands-on experience with HPLC, GPC, Rheology, XRD, DSC, TGA, particle size distribution, etc
  • Knowledge of GLP or cGMP requirement, and regulations / guidelines in pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced work environment
