Requirements
  • Previous experience in a restaurant, banquet, cafeteria, or hospitality environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently carry trays, food, beverages, and service items in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment with changing service demands.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating shifts as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, carrying, and repetitive movement.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 14 kilograms (30 pounds).
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, noisy restaurant environment with changing service demands.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional, friendly, engaging, and personalized service in accordance with Fairmont service standards.
  • Set and reset tables and service stations according to established meal-period and presentation standards.
  • Prepare and maintain mise en place and side stations for service.
  • Deliver water, bread, food, beverages, condiments, and other service items accurately and promptly.
  • Clear and crumb tables, replace settings, and reset tables efficiently while minimizing disruption to guests.
  • Anticipate guest and server needs throughout the dining experience and respond promptly to requests.
  • Monitor and replenish china, glassware, flatware, linen, and other service supplies.
  • Communicate table status, guest requests, dietary restrictions, allergies, and service priorities to servers, culinary colleagues, and leaders.
  • Maintain clean, organized, safe, and properly stocked dining areas, service stations, and workspaces.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, side work, and special-event or private-dining setups.
  • Build working knowledge of menus, beverage offerings, promotions, and hotel programs.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, departmental, and hotel procedures.
  • Follow Fairmont brand standards and the applicable Collective Agreement.
  • Maintain professional appearance, grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards.
  • Participate in required briefings, meetings, training, audits, and service excellence initiatives.
  • Report hazards, incidents, injuries, damaged equipment, and maintenance or security concerns.
  • Perform other duties reasonably assigned that are consistent with the nature and scope of the position.
Desired Qualifications
  • Luxury hotel or upscale restaurant experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Serving It Right certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage service and restaurant operations.
  • Strong guest-service orientation with a warm, professional, and attentive approach.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Organization, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to Fairmont service and safety standards.
