Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program is required.
  • Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification program, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Center for Competency Testing, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, is required if the candidate has one; uncertified candidates are expected to become certified after hire.
  • A valid CPR certification must be provided upon hire.
  • Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
  • Applicants must submit an application or resume demonstrating that they meet the minimum qualifications.
  • Certified candidates must attach a copy of their Medical Assistant certification; uncertified candidates must attach a certificate of completion from a Medical Assistant program.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient follow-up, including after-visit instructions, appointment setting, patient education, communication of normal laboratory results, and reminder phone calls.
  • Support back-office clinic flow and provider time management.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Review, forecast, and administer immunizations for clients of all ages.
  • Perform medical treatments such as simple wound care, ear irrigations, suture removal, and fluoride treatments.
  • Ensure examination rooms are stocked, cleaned, and ready for use.
  • Provide backup laboratory duties, including phlebotomy and laboratory processing.
  • Complete assigned quality control and quality assurance activities.
  • Provide backup support to the preventative Medical Assistant.
