Requirements
  • Ability to read and write fluently in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handle multiple priorities and tasks, and communicate effectively and non-judgmentally with people from different social, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, ethnic, language, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web browsers.
  • Coursework in data collection and research methodology.
  • Successful completion of human subjects research certification training.
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • One to three years of research experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews and assessments and administer questionnaires.
  • Collect, gather, and organize data from electronic medical records and public or other data sources.
  • Maintain research databases, patient study files, and research records in accordance with legal and institutional guidelines.
  • Perform or assist with literature searches.
  • Perform general administrative tasks.
  • Participate in basic data analyses and prepare progress reports and reports of findings.
  • Support clinical trials, clinical demonstration projects, clinical research, and program development activities in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Recruit research subjects, assess potential participants for eligibility, enroll study participants, explain research procedures and protocols, and obtain informed consent from subjects or their families.
  • Schedule study participant appointments and contact participants with appointment reminders.
  • Administer questionnaires and conduct interviews and assessments according to established protocols.
  • Identify subjects with significant clinical concerns and relay this information to the Program Manager or Principal Investigator.
  • Perform data entry, produce basic reports, clean data, and maintain databases.
  • Code qualitative interviews using codebooks and the NVIVO database.
  • Use databases such as Excel to track research activities and record data.
  • Assist with reports, grants, presentations, data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant preparation, and research.
  • Synthesize literature-search information in requested formats.
  • Attend required research-team training sessions and meetings.
  • Maintain departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Conform to College of Medicine and hospital standards of performance and conduct, including patient-rights standards.
  • Follow established infection-control and safety procedures.
  • Obtain and distribute reimbursements, participation vouchers, and payments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional language skills in the language of the target community.
  • Experience with statistical software such as NVIVO.
  • A master's degree or doctoral student status.
  • Experience in mental health, public health, or clinical studies.
