Job Details:
General Notes
The purpose of this position is to support the research of the Messing lab. This position will be funded until 8/31/26. Renewal possible pending funding.
Responsibilities
Animal care
Breeding and taking tissue for genotyping.
Performing mouse behavioral studies.
Perfusing animals for tissue collection.
Experimental
Prepare tissues (e.g. brain slices) for immunohistochemistry and fluorescent in-situ hybridization.
Perform Western blot analysis of brain tissue and cultured cells.
Collect rodent brain tissue for RNA sequence analysis.
Participate in experimental design and carry out experiments with accurate and timely recording of experimental procedures and results in lab notebooks.
Analyze experimental data, assist in production of figures for publication and grant applications.
Administrative
Assist PI, postdocs and students in writing methods and results for papers and in preparing grant apps.
Assist lab manager in maintaining lab equipment and contacting appropriate sources for service or repairs.
Supervise assigned undergraduate lab assistants.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, neurosciences, life sciences or related field with related laboratory experience
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Excellent data management and data analysis skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than two years of related productive laboratory experience and a bachelor’s degree.
Salary Range
$45,000
