Washington Water gets $4.1M annual revenue boost from utilities commission for system improvements

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission approved Washington Water Service's application to increase annual revenue by $4.1 million. The decision adopted a settlement among Washington Water, WUTC staff, and the Public Counsel Unit. The California Water Service Group subsidiary made $26.5 million in improvements to its water systems between 2023 and 2024. Major upgrades included installing thousands of feet of new water mains across multiple systems, new treatment facilities to reduce contaminants, upgraded booster pump stations, and remote monitoring systems. The improvements also addressed new water quality regulations for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. New rates are expected to take effect in October 2026. California Water Service Group is the largest regulated water utility in the western United States, serving more than 2.2 million people across five states.

California Water Service hits record $147M quarterly capex as rate case win unlocks revenue growth

California Water Service Group reported second-quarter 2026 sales of $308.6 million and net income of $56.47 million, alongside its 326th consecutive quarterly dividend of $0.335 per share. The company achieved record infrastructure investment of $147 million in the quarter. The favourable resolution of the 2024 California General Rate Case enabled meaningful rate adjustments and new revenue stabilisation mechanisms. The company's narrative projects $1.3 billion revenue and $205.8 million earnings by 2029, requiring 7.5% yearly revenue growth. Community fair value estimates for the utility span from $40.05 to $51.67 across different assessments. The rate case decision provides clearer revenue visibility, though rising capital and PFAS-related costs remain a key risk if they outpace regulatory relief over time.

California Water Service reports Q2 2026 earnings of $56.5M after rate case resolution

California Water Service Group reported strong second quarter 2026 results following the resolution of its 2024 California General Rate Case. The company posted net income of $56.5 million, or $0.93 per diluted share, compared to $42.2 million, or $0.71 per diluted share, in Q2 2025. Revenue reached $308.6 million, up from $265.0 million in the prior-year quarter. The increase was driven by California Interim Rates Memorandum Account revenue of $15.3 million and rate changes adding $15.0 million. The company invested a record $147 million in infrastructure during the quarter. It continues progressing on its planned acquisition of Nexus Water Group's Nevada and Oregon systems for approximately $218 million, having filed regulatory applications in April. California Water Service declared its 326th consecutive quarterly dividend of $0.3350 per share, payable August 21.

California Water misses Q1 earnings but wins rate case approval and Nevada acquisition

California Water Service Group reported first-quarter 2026 earnings that missed estimates due to higher costs, whilst announcing an agreement to acquire Nexus Water Group's water and wastewater systems in Nevada and Oregon. The company's California General Rate Case decision approved significant incremental revenues and enhanced revenue stabilisation mechanisms over the next three years, addressing earlier uncertainty around rate relief. The outcome could materially influence the company's regulated earnings profile as it manages infrastructure investment needs, including PFAS treatment and system modernisation. California Water Service Group's narrative projects $1.3 billion revenue and $205.8 million earnings by 2029, requiring 7.5% yearly revenue growth. Fair value estimates from the Simply Wall St Community range from $40.05 to $51.67, reflecting different growth assumptions amongst investors.

California Water Service Group down 7.3% as profit margins compress despite sales rising to $214.57M

California Water Service Group reported first-quarter 2026 results showing revenue rose to $214.57 million whilst net income fell to $4.04 million, sending shares down 7.3%. The company maintained its quarterly dividend of $0.335 per share, payable on 22 May 2026. The contrast between higher revenue and sharply lower earnings per share highlights margin pressure despite sales growth. Management's decision to maintain the dividend signals confidence in its capital return policy, though rising PFAS-related capital needs pose a potential concern. The company's narrative projects $1.2 billion in revenue and $187 million in earnings by 2029, requiring 6.7% annual revenue growth. Community fair value estimates range from $40.05 to $60.39 per share, reflecting divided opinions on the utility's prospects amid ongoing margin compression.
