The Service Center Manager will successfully manage a valve repair center to provide repair, field service and technical support to customers in the assigned geographical territory. This involves the sales of these services as well as the technical, manufacturing, and administrative management of the operations.
Expectations
To excel in the role you will:
Establish budgets for the operation of the repair center.
Implement the business plan and achieve the results planned.
Ensure compliance with corporate and government engineering and safety standards to maintain corporate image.
Secure and maintain ISO certification for site.
Maintain strict adherence to ISO and HSE procedures and standards.
Develop and maintain excellent visual order within the service facility, creating a professional and productive atmosphere for the staff and for our customers.
Coordinate with the regional sales and service management to insure effective promotion of these services through the field sales organization, distributors and representatives.
Build sales volume through direct customer contact/sales calls.
Negotiate directly with customers on price, delivery and other elements of service while working closely with the regional sales manager on key account objectives.
Manage administrative functions to insure adequate financial controls, good personnel relations and effective sales administration and customer service.
Use entrepreneurial skills to grow the business competitively and profitably. Stay current with changing industry needs for service.
Promote business by traveling to end customers using ASM and distributor/representative network.
Provide 24-hour coverage at service center by the use of beepers, etc to satisfy customer requirements.
Hands on repair and service of products.
Present and sell to end use customers
Must have ability to Utilize corporate resources in manufacturing, engineering, marketing, etc, as appropriate, to achieve desired results.
Communication across all functions is critical. Close relationships with key accounts are required to develop necessary long-term rapport to achieve desired results. Strong relationships with the channel are vital to achieve objectives.
Effectively manage the facility and service operations, including the selection and administration of good subcontractors.
Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of ISO and HSE procedures and processes.
Must be able to balance numerous urgent requirements and to determine priorities in work schedules.
Job requires that business skills, technical decisions and manufacturing be applied in good balance.
Long days and weekend work with no notice will be expected at times when customer requirements call for such measures.
To succeed in this role you will need:
Associates Degree as a minimum with Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
5 years experience in the valve industry with demonstrated skills in technical area. Field service background is desirable.
Facility management experience is desirable.
Sales experience is desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Must have the skills to lead and motivate a small group of employees.
Knowledge of products and repairs and manufacturing / testing operations.
Knowledge of field instrumentation and process knowledge of Pulp and Paper and/or Oil & Gas industries.
Proficiency in PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
Highest level of integrity and dependability is a must.
Demonstrated history of acceptance of ownership is a must. Growth and success of the business is largely dependent upon the performance of the Service Manager.
