Requirements
  • The candidate must have 6 or more years of software development experience, including at least 3 years on the Salesforce platform.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • The candidate must have experience designing multi-system integrations, including the approach, error-handling strategy, and data-reconciliation pattern.
  • The candidate must demonstrate mastery of asynchronous Apex patterns, including choosing among Batch, Queueable, Platform Events, and Change Data Capture based on the problem.
  • The candidate must have a deep understanding of Salesforce order of execution and its impact on complex automation.

  • The candidate must have experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline design and management, using Copado or an equivalent tool.
Responsibilities
  • Design systems spanning multiple Salesforce capabilities and external systems, using Platform Events, Change Data Capture, asynchronous Apex, and integration callouts appropriately.
  • Make architectural decisions for the portfolio, including how individual team code fits into the broader system.
  • Lead technical design for complex cross-system features involving Salesforce, Banner, ServiceNow, and Kafka.
  • Solve platform problems involving transaction boundaries, asynchronous handoffs, and Salesforce order of execution.
  • Mentor Software Engineer I and Software Engineer II engineers through design guidance, architecture reviews, and pairing on complex problems.
  • Drive technical direction for Salesforce development practices, including asynchronous patterns, integration standards, and testing strategy.
  • Own and reduce technical debt by identifying needed changes, building the case, and executing the plan.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on platform strategy, including migration plans, organization health, and governance-limit forecasting.
  • Represent the technical perspective to Product, Operations, and Academic leadership stakeholders.
  • Design continuous integration and continuous delivery improvements and release strategy for the portfolio.
Desired Qualifications
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.
  • One or more architect-level certifications, such as Integration Architect, Data Architect, or Application Architect.
  • Experience with Copado at the pipeline or strategy level, rather than only as a user.
  • Experience with Kafka or event-streaming platforms.
  • Experience in higher-education technology, including student information system integration and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act-aware systems.
  • Experience with large-scale Salesforce organizations, including complex sharing models, 100 or more objects, and 300 or more automation components.
  • Experience migrating legacy automation from Process Builder and Workflow Rules to Flow and Apex.
