Requirements
  • A Texas Property and Casualty Agent license is required.
  • A Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Risk Manager designation, or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation, is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of midmarket Commercial Account Executive experience is preferred; alternatively, ten to fifteen years of Account Executive experience is preferred if the required designation is not held.
  • The ability to meet and exceed objectives through effective delegation and account management is required.
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize work is required.
  • Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours to meet client needs is required, including monitoring email and responding to important emails and calls after hours and on weekends when necessary.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and current internet technologies is required.
  • The ability to learn, analyze, and comprehend commercial lines of insurance is required.
  • The ability to service clients effectively through problem solving, confidentiality, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact is required.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with, meeting with, and partnering with assigned clients through routine phone and email contact and periodic meetings and planning sessions is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing roles, including presenting new business and renewal presentations, strategy meetings, claims reviews, and mid-year reviews, is required.
  • The ability to interact with, support, collaborate with, and direct employees in subordinate, peer, and superior roles is required.
  • The ability to speak professionally and comfortably in front of others is required.
  • The ability to maintain composure, follow the organizational chart on personnel matters, and contribute to team goals and client service is required.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the client insurance program using the agency management system, including larger and more complex accounts than an Account Executive generally manages.
  • Act as the main point of contact with the Producer, marketplace, vendors, clients, and other relevant parties.
  • Initiate correspondence with the marketplace and communicate with insurance carriers and clients as needed.
  • Manage client relationships, analyze situations, make proactive decisions, and ensure follow-through.
  • Instruct and direct clients through a consultative approach.
  • Manage upcoming deadlines and events and update the Producer as needed.
  • Manage accounts receivable and direct billing related to cancellations.
  • Create Acord applications and supplemental applications for submissions to the Marketing Department and carriers.
  • Create and complete COPE spreadsheets as needed.
  • Prepare loss summaries, renewal proposals, Acord Insurance Binders, schedules of insurance, and policies for client delivery.
  • Initiate premium finance requests.
  • Process policy audits, monthly reports, mail, phone requests, and requests for changes to client coverages.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Adhere to document-retention software documentation guidelines.
  • Perform quality checks and quality control on insurance policies in their entirety.
  • Recommend additional products and services and expand broker or consultant services when appropriate to meet client needs.
  • Delegate and manage tasks assigned to the Account Manager and outsourcing teams.
  • Ensure Account Manager and outsourcing-team tasks are completed as directed and that the Account Manager performs the duties in the MMA Account Manager job description.
  • Provide direction and guidance to other team members.
  • Coordinate and monitor the usage and quality of outsourcing teams.
  • Mentor Account Executives and Managers and support their training and development.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Negotiate with carriers on cost and insurance program design.
  • Assist with client plan recommendations.
  • Coordinate, present, and attend client meetings, including mid-year and renewal meetings, with at least 12 visits per year for purposes such as renewals, claims, safety, loss control, information gathering, policy delivery, and payment collection.
  • Analyze insurance quotes and make recommendations.
  • Comprehend and interpret insurance contract requirements for Certificates of Insurance.
  • Stay current on carrier plans and websites.
  • Use premium analysis software and carrier online rating programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of policy forms and endorsements and explain detailed coverage provisions to clients and Account Managers.
  • Design insurance programs based on defined client needs.
  • Use the agency management system to monitor activities such as expired policies, aged accounts receivable, and SIC codes.
  • Identify and address coverage gaps with the Producer, carrier, and client.
  • Develop subject-matter expertise and serve as a resource in an area of interest or technical capability.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five to seven years of Account Executive experience for internal candidates.
  • Seven to ten years of midmarket Commercial Account Executive experience for external candidates.
  • Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Risk Manager designations or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation, if not treated as a required credential.
