General Description
Our Boston office is seeking a full-time Estate Administration Specialist to support its Private Wealth Services practice. This is a fast-paced and dynamic office where you will
work closely with clients, attorneys and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries regarding the estate/trust administration process
- Marshalling, organizing, and analyzing asset information.
- Reading and interpreting wills and trust instruments
- Coordinating valuation of assets and allocation of assets to sub-trusts
- Preparing inventories, asset transfer documents, deeds, probate readings, fiduciary reports/accountings, receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits
- Appearing in probate court on uncontested matters regarding wills and trusts
- Preparing estate and gift tax returns
- Reviewing and extracting relevant information from bank, brokerage and other statements
- Maintaining checkbook and banking records
- Computing and disbursing beneficiary distributions
- Recording deeds in local jurisdictions
- Preparing and filing beneficiary designation forms for life insurance and retirement accounts
- Researching relevant state laws and/or federal estate, gift and GST tax laws.
- Special project and duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Self-starter who takes initiative to complete assignments
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel; and tax return preparation software.
Required Qualifications & Education:
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with fiduciary income tax returns and/or Accounting/CPA background
- Familiarity with local probate rules and procedures
Preferred Qualifications & Education:
- J.D. from ABA accredited law school
- Active Bar license
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
