DLA Piper hires new Head of Transfer Pricing for Asia Pacific. Global law firm DLA Piper has appointed Craig Silverwood as the Head of Transfer Pricing for the Asia Pacific region. He joins the tax practice in Melbourne on 1 September. Craig joins from MinterEllison where he was National Transfer Pricing Leader, working across the full transfer pricing value chain. His experience is sector-diverse, covering technology (including data centres), automotive, energy and resources, FMCG, financial services, pharmaceuticals and real estate. He has led some of the largest transfer pricing disputes in the Asia Pacific region and was formerly an Australian Tax Office economist - bringing with him a unique insight into audit approaches and policy direction. Transfer Pricing remains one of the core DLA Piper tax practice growth engines, with a strong presence across the US, UK, Europe and Asia. Craig joins a global team of more than 50 transfer pricing economists and lawyers, one of the largest dedicated transfer pricing networks within a global law firm. Craig's appointment is a major addition to the firm's global offering, especially given Australia's increasingly complex tax enforcement environment. Craig will be joined by senior associate Cynthia Vasanthanathan on 1 September and will continue to build a dedicated Asia Pacific transfer pricing team in the region, with further appointments to be announced. Craig's appointment follows the recent hires of Angela Wood and Andy Bubb to the Tax Controversy team in Melbourne and Brendon Lamers to the Corporate Tax team in Brisbane. This has created a strong platform in Australia, which is adding momentum across the broader five partner tax team and lifting collaborations with global clients and colleagues. Craig's practice will integrate seamlessly with the global DLA Piper transfer pricing and tax controversy teams, positioning the firm for anticipated growth in transfer pricing planning, APAs, MAP cases and treaty arbitration, dispute management and litigation. Jacques Wantz, Global Co-Chair of Tax at DLA Piper, commented: "Craig is a fantastic addition to our global Transfer Pricing practice. He brings a rare combination of deep technical capability, law firm experience and active transfer pricing controversy credentials in one of the most challenging jurisdictions globally. Establishing a Transfer Pricing capability in Australia enhances our client offering and our coordination of multi-jurisdictional disputes." Randall Fox, Global Co-Chair of Transfer Pricing and Valuation, added: "Craig's appointment reflects our continued commitment to building a truly global transfer pricing practice.
