- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Candidates must be graduates of a formal medical assistant training program or have a minimum of three years of medical assistant experience.
- Applicants without formal medical assistant training may be considered if they have at least three years of related experience in a comparable role, such as licensed practical nurse, medical student, emergency medical technician, or paramedic.
- Assist physicians in providing high-quality patient care and provide customer service to patients and the practice.
- Assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks, including lab tracking and data entry, document management, obtaining patient histories and vital signs, verifying medication lists, preparing charts, and pre-visit planning.
- Perform routine specialized procedures, including electrocardiograms, rapid strep tests, urine dip tests, spirometry, and nebulizer treatments.
- Administer injections, including vaccines and medications.
- Educate and advise patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
- Schedule, coordinate, and track STAT patient referrals and pre-authorizations.
- Work with quality reports to close gaps in care and maintain consistent quality scores.
- Maintain stock levels for medicines and medical supplies as needed.
- Monitor and audit vaccine refrigeration temperature in line with Department of Health regulations.
- Practice safety, environmental, and infection-control methods.
- Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Department of Health standards.
- Comply with federal and local confidentiality laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, to ensure patient privacy.
- Follow Brown Health Medical Group guidelines for protecting patients’ demographic, clinical, and financial information.
- Attend meetings and workshops related to the position and office workflows.
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Completion of a medical assistant certification is preferred.
