About the role:
Are you ready to work on critical technology that that supports UK wide and internationally deployed multi-domain command and control systems, our work is critical to the modern backbone of Defence systems.
In this role, you will be part of a team that works closely with our customers to create software centric capabilities that allow them to exe-cute their mission with ease and success. Graduate Software Engineers are required with experience of Java, C++ and/or C to join our team to solve problems and develop innovative solutions for our customers. An exciting opportunity to work on pioneering projects using cutting-edge technology.
Role responsibilities:
As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will play an integral role in our projects that span cyber innovation, cutting-edge research and development, big data analytics and systems architecture.
Within our agile development team, you will:
Become accountable for the creation of clean, well-constructed, unit-tested code.
Complete activity within the team’s work board (Scrum board). These tasks may also include deep support (3rd line) of operational systems, including debugging and fault finding.
Support the design of features (stories) from team’s roadmap and over time confidently explain the choices made in the final design.
Liaise, as appropriate, with Product Owner and Project Stakeholders during design work.
Support of team’s continuous improvement and work planning through attendance of sprint artefacts.
Support the team’s system testing by writing system tests under the guidance of the team’s test manager.

A relevant degree, for example, Software Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
A passion for software, computing, online security and cyber ethics and a proven ability to write code in Java and Python
An understanding of the software lifecycle and the ability to meet deadlines
Analytical skills, logical reasoning, and ideally, the ability to solve problems in innovative ways
